Mechanics[edit source]

  • Oil is now replaced by tools.
  • Each faction has a troop facility, a mobile division base, and advanced versions of the same.
  • Cities and capitals are replaced by space bases and citadels, which now create workers and expand your empire.

Emergent factions[edit source]

The Middle East and Africa have all but collapsed and faltered back into barbarism, with Islam supplanted by a new ideology called Jihadism, purportedly founded by "The Copper Father", supposedly a godhead or prophet of some kind. But who knows? perhaps they may yet rise again? even though the four factions of A Wrong Turn have escaped, there are several nations waiting in the wings to appear.

  • PEUR
  • New Golden Horde
  • Baluchi emirate
  • Jihadi emirate
  • Saharan emirate
  • Sahel
  • Kongo
  • Bantustan (if the Empire loses too many battles to subjugate earth, any of these factions can arise and are indicative of the losses of men and materiel to the enemy)
  • ??? (Faction 5 no 1, no further comment)
  • ??? (Faction 5 no 2, no further comment)

Climate and geology[edit source]

Often neglected by many RTS games, climate and geology now all play a vital part in your battlefields.

  • Low-grav worlds cause double damage although infantry and light vehicles move faster. Building is also faster too.
  • High-grav worlds preclude the use of heavy machinery.
  • Deserts cause units to suffer added flank damage (ie Bolivarian-held Nueva Vidalia and Tapioca, aka Venus and Mercury), but generate added tool and energy extraction rates.
  • Cold environments result in added attrition as long as unit is not within the vicinity of friendly supply (ie Salviatist Titan), but aid metal and knowledge gathering.
  • Outside of earth or terraformed areas, infantry suffer substantial attrition unless supported

Mercenary units[edit source]

You would've thought wrong if you thought that the other factions died out. Not entirely, however, as there are many survivors around and best of all, they can be recruited as mercenaries from your temple. They cost far less in population, and are very effective for their cost and train very fast - but they cost substantial amounts of energy and tools to bring in.

  • Mujahidin - these men are all that's left of the once-proud Jihadian caliphate, and wage an all-enduring war against their neighbours. You can recruit these men to fight for your own cause, given that they bear no rancor for the Atlantic Federation's children, only for the Salviatian slavers that ravage their clans. Mujahidin can later be upgraded to Disciples of Copper, who are the archpriests of Jihadism, now the dominant religion throughout the Middle East and North Africa. These units are far more terrifying than the Mujahidin, and for good reason too.
  • Nyuki gunship - surprisingly, Trans-Sahelian technology is quite suited for a variety of environments, once fitted out properly, and the Nyuki is no exception. Recruited from the numerous warlords who infest Central Africa, the Nyuki is useful as a ground attack plane, and after some adjustments, can be used to transport infantry, and becomes the Nyuki VTOL capable of hovering. These units are commonly recruited by the Bolivarians to do their bidding for them.
  • Silver Spheres - nobody knows where these units come from. What they accept is, however, that they are somehow connected to their Salviatian taskmasters, as they have been spotted in their armnies, and nowhere else. Fast as any attack plane, the Silver Spheres are hovering units with melee capabilities, capable of eviscerating whole infantry squads and taking out bombers such as the Alamo-class medium bombers of ASTRO, but seem to perform poorly if attacked with fighter jets and tanks.
  • Akuma II - formerly the pride of the Imperial Arsenal, the Akuma heavy tank is a throwback from the War of '84. The Galactic Shogunate may be unable to raise the funds or manpower to support super-heavy units, but it can still recruit these guys from their vassal states on earth...if they can provide enough tools and energy to refurbish them for extraterresterial duty. These units can later be upgraded into the Akuma Mk II, which is now armed with a particle accelerator and antigrav abilities, making it suitable for work in high-grav environments.

Other units:

  • Bushrangers - snipers, can be upgraded to wield laser rifles.
  • Shinobi - agents, recruited by the Empire to wreak havoc, sabotage facilities and steal technologies.
  • Reanimated corpse - available only to Salviatia.
  • Bolivarian Hovertank - a throwback to the War of '84, these units can cross almost anything except mountainous terrain.
  • Freeway Warriors - simple hoodlums. Not very effective on their own but usable for protecting trade convoys from marauders, although the Ubersoldat kBot will easily finish them off. Frequently appear in the pay of ASTRO.
  • Order of Novus Jovii - recruited from Southern Europe. Dedicated to the Imperial Cult of Novus Jovii, they are somewhat strangely kitted out but nobody will doubt their faith and loyalty. After the War of '84, Novus-worship spread throughout devastated Europe, and the many warring tribes in the wastelands invoke Novus' name when going to war.
