Basama Hakamoto
- Name: Basamna Hakamoto
- Association: Imperial Space Corps
- Callsign: Monkey
- Rank: Major-General
A 4th-generation descendent of the great Shogun Basam-Tamdu who helped to keep the old Celestian Empire of the Rising Sun intact during the War of '84 and its apocalyptic aftermath, Basama Hakamoto was recruited into the Imperial War Academy at Tentai-Zu at the tender age of fourteen when he first began showing signs of being a highly gifted child with a tenacious memory for history and a flair for complex calculations - thus earning him the callsign, "Monkey" in allusion to the fabled Monkey King Son Goku.
Today, a lifelong love affair with cybernetics and all manner of mechanical and electronic devices saw Basama win many national prizes for his ingenuity and practicality, eventually resulting in his meteoric rise in the ranks of the Imperial Army until he was selected to head the still new but floundering Imperial Space Corps. Through his drive, passion for all things digital and ruthless efficiency, the Imperial Space Corps is now truly ready to take on the task of expanding the Empire beyond the limits of the old Earth, and into the stars on its quest to enlighten and empower the human race.
With the Monkey General spearheading the Empire's only bionics project with his singlemindedness and his flair in electronics design, he tends to have an edge in the creation of Bions. Given that Bions are already one of the top units for the Imperial Army owing to reduced ramp cost, the Monkey general has created a genus of Bion that is far more capable than others and for this reason, his lower-level Bions have greater rates of fire and accuracy. The problem for him however is that such preparedness means that his Bionics Labs are some of the most intricate and technically demanding schematics, which can be a challenge in a fast-paced environment.
Faction assessment[edit | edit source]
Overall the Monkey Army prefers early- to mid-game booming, owing to it specialisation in Bionic warfare. Bions are in effect heavy infantry, being costlier and harder to manufacture but if amassed in large numbers they can prove to be efficient killers. Having better Assault Bions means better anti-vehicle defence, and having better Mechanics can help greatly in a defensive or offensive situation provided these Bions are protected at all times. Having a reduced ramp cost on these mechanical monstrosities means that whatever the Monkey selects is usually of superior quality at a relatively low cost. Food production premiums mean that this is a sub-faction suited ideally for early to midgame play - Monkey Assault Bions and Monkey Mechanics, arrayed with cheap and inexpensive Genin infantry can be an irresistable tide, especially against the lighter vehicles of STELO or the heavy hitting weapons platforms of the Commonwealth.
Subfaction trait[edit | edit source]
- Assault Bions fire faster and are more accurate.
- Mechanics have greater repair speed.
- PENALTY +20% construction time for Bionics Lab.
